Kate
- Is a volunteer researcher at George Washington’s Mount Vernon and member of the Life Guard Society donor group
- Is a Grand Prix-level dressage rider, has earned her gold, silver and bronze medals from the U.S. Dressage Federation, and is a retired dressage judge (For you sad non-horse people, dressage is an equestrian sport)
- Loves ballroom dancing (get ready for a lively band at the wedding reception!)
- Is receiving her Masters Degree in Early American History from George Mason University
- Is an expert on George Washington’s hair (really!)
- Used to think her French was pretty good until she blanked during Jim’s wedding proposal in Paris.
Jim
- Pilgrimed on the Camino de Santiago in Spain last summer, peaking at 20 miles in a day
- Ran four Marine Corps Marathons (No surprise: both hips later replaced)
- Had an attempted mob hit taken out on him in Florence, Italy (really!)
- Collects early American handblown glass (lonely hobby … anyone else out there?)
- Chased down Medicare scammers for 20 years (no mob hits, yet)
- Found friendship with nature through a shaman deep in the Amazon jungles of Peru
- Some day Jim will eat his first Brussels sprout
- History in the unmaking: The first James W. Quiggle (Jim is the 4th) caused a scandal while Consul in Italy during the Civil War. Ask Jim how his impulsive ancestor almost changed the entire Civil War
